Xan started playing tennis at the age of 5 years old. He played competitive junior tennis from the ages of 9-18. He lettered in tennis all 4 years at Oak Ridge High School and was the captain of the team his junior and senior years. Xan competed at the state tournament in the singles division. Xan played Varsity tennis for 4 years at Centre College where he played line 1&2 for both singles and doubles and finished in the top 8 best singles and doubles player in the history of Centre College.
Xan started coaching tennis in 2013 at Fox Den Country Club and pickleball in 2015. He continued teaching there until 2016 and then moved over to Tennessee Tennis Club and Academy. Xan taught at TTCA from 2016, eventually becoming the lead tennis instructor at the club. Xan has been the Tournament Director for several large pickleball tournaments at TTCA beginning in 2021. He has also played in several pickleball tournaments at the 5.0 level. Xan resides in Knoxville with his wife Megan and his daughter Layla and son Walker. In his spare time, he enjoys fly fishing and tying his own flies. Xan is a charismatic guy with a wealth of knowledge in both tennis and pickleball.
